The day we went to the Temple Mount, our guide took us into the Western Wall tunnels.
He told us the history of the temple, how it was built by Solomon on Mount Moriah, where Abraham almost sacrificed Isaac, and how that temple was destroyed. And how then Herod rebuilt the Temple in the same place, right on top of the old one - and how the Romans destroyed it in AD 70... and then how the Muslim Ottoman ruler Shulaman the Magnificent came and put a Muslim mosque right on top of the ruins.

He took us deeper and deeper, pointing out the markmanship that signified Herod's design, then to the smoother rock of the original bedrock of Solomon's Temple.
Then he stopped, stretched his arm out, and said, "This is still the bedrock from the first temple. And on the other side of this wall is the Holy of Holies."
My face = 😮. #apictureadayofIsrael #israel
